UPROXX 20: Lee Camp Thinks Highly Of The Sushi In Los Angeles

Lee Camp is a comedian and activist perhaps best known for his regular appearances on cable news shows like Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Fox & Friends, and the Dylan Ratigan Show. Currently, he hosts Redacted Tonight with Lee Campwhich airs Fridays at on RT America, a multilingual news network, at 8pm EST.

Lee was nice enough to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule recently to answer a few questions from us.

1. You walk into a bar. What do you order from the bartender?

Scotch. Either neat or with one cube. Not A MILLION! FOR GOD’S SAKE BARTENDERS STOP SERVING ME A SCOTCH SNOW CONE WHEN I’M NOT PAYING ATTENTION!! WHO THE F**K EVER ORDERS THAT?!

2. Who’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter and/or Instagram?

Pretty sure we’re all on Twitter just to watch ourselves type and then think, “Damn I’m sooo clever!” So I guess my answer is — Me?

3. What’s currently waiting for you on your DVR/TiVo?

First of all — TiVo? What is this, 1998? My TiVo is currently being used to weigh down the lid on the hamster cage. Secondly, I don’t own a TV. And I wish I could act like that makes me some sort of intellectual but I’LL BINGE WATCH THE F**K OUT OF A TV SHOW ON NETFLIX!

4. It’s your last meal — what are you going out with?

You mean my last meal because I’m on the Titanic and it’s sinking? Or my last meal because I’m in the International Space Station and we’ve run out of meals? Or my last meal because I’m on death row even though I didn’t do it because I’m one of the 4 percent of death-row inmates who are innocent (that’s a real number — look it up)? Which one did you mean? And my answer is ice cream for all of those scenarios.

5. What websites do you visit on a regular basis?

Alternet, Truthdig, DemocracyNow, Truth-Out, Popular Resistance and Pornhub. That last one is purely for research purposes, and the first five are only because I find the reporters sexy.

6. What’s the most frequently played song on your mobile device?

Tom Morello — “One Man Revolution.” …Second place goes to Juvenile — “Back That Ass Up.”

7. The first face that comes to mind when you think “punchable”?

Cheney. Sorry if that’s cliche but f*ck that guy, right?

8. What’s the last thing you Googled?

“How to get a double-stuffed Oreo removed from an ear canal without any questions asked.” Before that I Googled my TV show Redacted Tonight to see what came up. It seems people think I look like Orlando Bloom if he just ate something that tasted like farts.

9. Dogs or cats?

Who would win between the two? Probably dogs. …unless the cats had nunchucks.

10. Best concert of your life was…?

There’s never been to a concert about my life. But that’s definitely a goal though.

11. What book are you most likely to give as a gift?

In all honesty, Confessions of An Economic Hitman. It’s the best book for introducing people to how geopolitics works. And I know that sounds boring. But that book was one of several that changed my life when I was about 22 or 23. Second place goes to my book, Moment of Clarity, because I have about a thousand that I haven’t been able to sell. So I just give ’em away to strangers now.

12. What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?

Probably blowing me when I was college. That was pretty nice, you know? I feel like until a guy is about 25, all sexual activity is just a gift from a woman feeling bad for him.

13. South Park or Family Guy?

I gotta go Family Guy. And I know that’s the less satirical of the two — so it seems like an odd choice. But Cartman got old for me in about 1999. I wish I could say otherwise.

14. You have an entire day to do whatever you want. What would you do?

Lock every member of Congress in their offices for about two or three years. Replace them with rabid meerkats wearing bow ties and SEE IF A DAMN THING CHANGES IN THIS COUNTRY! …If I didn’t have time for that, I would do some reading followed by drinking followed by saying things I regret.

15. What movie can you not resist watching if it’s on?

Back To The Future and Princess Bride. Speaking of that, have they ever considered combining the two into “Princess To The Future”? Because I would orgasm through that entire thing. Maybe throw in Shawshank Redemption? “Shawshank Princess To The Future”? WHO WOULDN’T WATCH THAT?!

16. The sports team or teams you’re most passionate about?

I don’t watch much sports. I know it’s un-American. WHY CAN’T YOU JUST LOVE ME FOR ME?!

17. Where did you eat the best meal of your life?

It was just before my execution. They gave me ice cream. It was the best! Also sushi in Los Angeles is f***ing awesome. Hard to beat.

18. The last movie you saw in a theater?

I was invited to a screening of “The Yes Men Are Revolting” — the new movie by The Yes Men. You HAVE to see it! I love those guys.

19. Who was your first celebrity crush?

Ugh. It was Abe Vigoda. I know it’s weird, and it led to a lot of soul-searching. …After that, probably whichever female was currently on the screen and showing some cleavage. As a teenage boy you pretty much have a crush for whoever’s in front of you. …I humped a couch once.

20. What would you cook if Nic Cage was coming to your house for dinner?

Arsenic. Unless he promised to only ever act again in reboots of Raising Arizona.

PREVIOUSLY: Dizzy Reed of Guns N’ Roses
