Patriots Owner Robert Kraft Threw Shade At The Manning Family After Super Bowl 50

For the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl 50, they had to claw over other teams who wanted the title just as badly (and with more functional quarterbacks). Before their monstrous defense supplied the Kryptonite to Cam Newton’s Superman routine, they first had to take the Patriots’ proud-but-battered offense behind the woodshed. Based on comments he made in an interview with WCVB, it seems like Pats owner Robert Kraft is still licking his wounds.

When asked about his trip to Super Bowl 50, Kraft not-so-offhandedly mentioned, “I happened to see Archie [Manning] there. He has two sons who have won two Super Bowls [each]. But with all due respect, we have one son who has won four.”

As an insult, it’s complete nonsense. What equivalence is Kraft drawing here? Who’s the “we” that has Tom Brady as a son? Did the Krafts adopt Tom Brady without telling anyone? And why is he gloating to Archie Manning? Eli and Peyton are separate people who have won Super Bowls for different teams, none of which the elder Manning owned. What is Kraft taking credit for here?

This is the very essence of the Patriot Way, which is to say it can’t stand anyone but the Patriots getting glory for more than five seconds. It’s not even a week out from the Super Bowl and Kraft is saying “HEY GUYS REMEMBER HOW WE WON MORE AND BETTER SUPER BOWLS AND ARE MORE SIGNIFICANT? WELL NOW YOU DO!” It must be exhausting.
