Before the run of “can’t stop, won’t stop” offensive playoff explosions from Dirk Nowitzki this year, 2006 stood as his magnum opus. We can’t forget, despite Dallas falling apart in the Finals, what he did that year. Here was his greatest moment: a 50-point annihilation of Phoenix in a pivotal Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.
Perhaps the most interesting part about this video are his teammates. Back during this period, the Mavs were thought to be stacked, and had the young talent (Josh Howard, Devin Harris, Marquis Daniels) that was going to combine with Nowitzki to win multiple championships. What happened?
