Closer Look: The NBA’s First-Ever Camouflage Uniform

In October, we broke the news that the Raptors would be getting camouflage jerseys this season. But at the time, all we had to show you was a screenshot from NBA 2K12. Now, with the season officially about to start, it’s time to take a closer look.

After we saw North Carolina and Michigan State show out in camo last month, the Raptors have introduced the NBA’s first-ever camouflage uniform. And for those of you that can’t wait to see it in action, it will make its on-court debut on March 21 in Toronto against the Bulls as part of Canadian Forces Night, and will be worn three more times after that.

The Raptors and the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs are both owned by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE). And in case you didn’t know, the Leafs introduced camo jerseys almost two years ago. As Uni Watch’s Paul Lukas notes, MLSE has had a longstanding commitment to support the Canadian military, so these jerseys are no gimmick. Personally, I think they’re awesome.

If jerseys are your thing, make sure you check out Lukas’ annual Uni Watch NBA Season Preview. It doesn’t get better than this.

What do you think?
