As we get closer to the NBA trade deadline, the chances that Dwight Howard gets dealt are quickly shrinking. The best deal New Jersey can offer without Brook Lopez just isn’t enough for the Magic to give up hope. Howard himself is blocking a potential move to Chicago, with his reasoning being the weather, and not being the top dog. And as far as the Lakers, it all depends on who you talk to. Some say Howard doesn’t want to be there. Others think he could make it work. Then there’s this: in the past few hours, reports have surfaced saying Orlando is discussing a monster deal to get Howard some help. What star would be coming to Disney World? Monta Ellis.
According to Jarrod Rudolph of RealGM.com, Orlando, Golden State and New Orleans are discussing a three-team deal where Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins and Dorell Wright would be sent by the Warriors to the Magic. The Magic would have to give up Ryan Anderson, J.J. Redick, Hedo Turkoglu and Quentin Richardson. Meanwhile the Hornets involvement wasn’t clear but was believed to be centered around Chris Kaman.
Despite the rumors of an Ellis-Orlando partnership that have been floating around for the past few weeks, some don’t believe this has a chance to happen.
Sam Amick of SI.com tweeted earlier: “I repeat: Don’t expect Dwight Howard-obsessed Warriors owner Joe Lacob to help Orlando keep Dwight Howard in any way. That is all.”
Trade Superman? It sounds like Orlando wants to keep him happy instead.
If Orlando got Ellis, would that be enough to convince Howard to stay?
