1. 2011 NBA PLAYOFFS, GAME 2 OF THE FIRST ROUND VS. BOSTON
42 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, Boston wins 96-93
Look at that line again. Those are “Shaq before he got fat” numbers. Those are something you’d see out of a 2K12 game, or a game before the modern era when they used to run around and chuck up shots every three seconds like they were 10 Nick Youngs. The Knicks didn’t win. In fact, they didn’t win a game in this series, but you couldn’t fault Carmelo. He had 17 rebounds barely a minute into the fourth quarter, and somehow found the time to dish out six assists even as he was carrying an offense so thoroughly that afterwards, he laid out in the trainer’s room with multiple hands working to break down the aches in his legs.
