GIF: The Greek Freak Powers Through Thunder Defense For Wrong-Foot Slam

The Milwaukee Bucks have a chance to very good – in two years years at the very least. For now, though, they’re at least plenty fun to watch thanks to plays like this. Watch Giannis Antetokounmpo exhibit his rare coordination, power, and length by attacking a close-out and knifing through the Oklahoma City Thunder defense for a jam off his right foot.

Simple.

Except it’s not at all. The problem with Greek Freak highlights – like a lot of the league’s supremely athletic players – is that he makes the difficult seem anything but. There are only so many wings in basketball capable of a show-and-go followed by a dunk in the halfcourt, and Antetokounmpo does it all while absorbing contact and leaping from his off-foot.

Giannis is having a sneaky good season for Milwaukee, accomplishing the difficult feat of substantial advancements in both usage rate and true shooting percentage. He showed last season as a clueless 18 year-old that he’d be a beast once his skills and understanding began catching up to his natural gifts – the only question was when that would happen.

We’re seeing the makings of that growth happening now. Just imagine the kind of force Antetokounmpo will be a few seasons from today. Scary.
