Steph Curry Says His 10 ‘Apple’ Turnovers In Loss to Suns Will “Change”

In the first half of the Dubs-Suns game in Phoenix last night, Stephen Curry had 22 points, seven assists and four steals. He also had five turnovers. That sloppy trend continued in the second half, when he went a little cold and the Suns upset the Warriors, 107-95, to give the Dubs their first loss of the season. Curry, however, knows his turnovers are to blame and posted a pic to his Instagram to prove it.

Curry finished with a triple-double last night, but it wasn’t the kind Bay-area fans wanted: Steph had 28 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field, 10 assists and 10…turnovers.

He was a blur getting 22 points in the first half, including four steals…

But he said after the game, by way of the Bay Area News Group’s Diamon Leung, that the opening salvo wasn’t enough.

“We played well enough I think the first 36 minutes to win the game,” said Curry. “It’s just we made a lot of stupid plays that gave them life as opposed to trying to put the nail in the coffin when we had the opportunity to do that.”

The biggest, were Curry’s 10 turnovers, none of which was more debilitating then his final one and the team’s 26th of the night (they finished with 27 on the night) when Isaiah Thomas stole the ball from an over-dribbling Curry near mid-court and Marcus Morris hit a three-pointer on the other end to give Phoenix a 100-89 advantage with under four minutes to play:

The Suns eventually cruised to a 107-95 win with Thomas and Gerald Green leading them to a 36-16 fourth-quarter Dubs stomping.

Curry was honest about his role in the loss after the game, and he even used a fun double-entendre to explain his reasoning on Instagram:

“We were our own worst enemy,” coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “We got what we deserved.” Nobody knows that more than Curry, which is what you want in one of your leaders.
