Video: Steph Curry Drops 34 Points, 10 Boards, 5 Dimes On Rockets In Win

The most hyped matchup in the NBA on Saturday was between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets, a.k.a. the battle of the perfect teams. Heading into their Saturday duel, both of these Western Conference powerhouses had yet to suffer a loss, with Golden State earning four wins and Houston tallying six straight W’s of their own. While the Rockets were without Dwight Howard (flu), Terrence Jones (bruised right leg), and Patrick Beverley (hamstring) in their starting lineup, the game upheld its promise as it went down to the wire.

Despite struggling at the three-line, the Rockets held an eight-point lead at halftime. However, the Rockets continued inefficiency with the long-ball and their ineffectiveness to push the ball into the paint caught up with them in the second half. The Warriors, specifically Stephen Curry, shifted gears and were able to pull away for good in the final quarter.

Curry led the Warriors’ charge on Saturday night, earning his third double-double of the season by posting 34 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and four steals. The Warriors outscored the Rockets 50-31 in the second half en route to their fifth consecutive win, with the final score standing at 98-87.

When asked how his team overcame an eight-point deficit, Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr stated, “”We have this guy named Steph Curry. He’s pretty good.” That is a good summation from the rookie head coach. While the absence of the Rockets’ frontcourt – ie. Andrew Bogut grabbed 18 boards – and Beverley’s defense on Curry was felt throughout the game, the “Baby-faced Assassin” was able to have an impact on every square inch of the floor, and he was therefore able to go to work on his own terms.

Take a gander at the highlights from Curry’s stellar double-double against the Rockets that helped Golden State earn their best start since the 1994-95 season (5-0) under then coach Don Nelson.
