Watch Monta Ellis Put The Kings Away For Good With Soaring Transition Slam

Monta Ellis really did have it all in the second half of his team’s game against the Sacramento Kings tonight. Leading the Dallas Mavericks all the way back from a 24-point deficit, the cat-quick guard scored the last of his 16 points – all of which came in the the last two quarters – on a soaring transition slam over Omri Casspi.

Whoa.

The jam put the Mavs up 102-92 with just two minutes remaining, and they’d go onto win by a score of 106-98. Though Ellis captained the Mavs’ charge, this was still Dirk Nowitzki’s night. The future Hall-of-Famer scored 23 points en route to becoming the ninth-leading overall scorer and top international scorer in NBA history.

It’s easy to forget that Monta made plays like this seem common during his heyday with the Golden State Warriors. Though still a blur in the open court and tremendously slippery with the ball, Ellis’ aerial exploits are few and far between these days.

Given this awesome dunk, that’s clearly more of a choice than anything else.
