Perhaps you saw Nick Young and Jordan Hill video bomb Jeremy Lin during his post-game interview on the Staples Center court this past Sunday. It came after the Lakers defeated the Celtics in overtime, and they were all pretty happy — despite a paucity of such wins this season. Last night Jimmy Kimmel showed his buddy, Kobe Bryant, the video. The injured Lakers star’s icy reaction said it all.
Only the Timberwolves have a worse record (12-43) than the 14-41 Lakers. Kobe’s non-reaction was perfect, provoking the Kimmel crowd, and Kimmel, into fits of laughter. The whole time Kobe stays mum. But his countenance said more than enough:
Kimmel expertly segued into the movie Whiplash when it was clear Kobe had no words to offer. If you’ve been living under a rock, the movie tracks the story of a cutthroat music teacher who basically obliterates the psyche of his young drumming pupil as a way of pushing him to succeed.
