Add another All-Star to the list of the hobbled and fallen. After suffering a shoulder strain during last night’s win over the Golden State Warriors, Kyrie Irving has been ruled out of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Friday tilt with the Indiana Pacers.
Fortunately, an MRI conducted after the game revealed no structural damage to Irving’s left shoulder. Via the team’s website:
Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving experienced a left shoulder injury during last night’s game at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland vs. the Golden State Warriors. He did not travel with the team to Indianapolis and received additional examination, including an MRI, this morning at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health, the results of which confirmed a left shoulder strain. Irving is now listed as Out for the game against the Pacers tonight.
Cleveland faces the Pacers in Indianapolis tonight before traveling to south for a showdown with James Harden and the Houston Rockets on Sunday. Irving’s status for that matchup is currently unknown.
The Cavaliers are 1-2 without their point guard in the lineup this season. Indiana ended the 12-game winning streak that began Cleveland’s ongoing surge with a 103-99 triumph on February 6.
