Andrew Wiggins is a runaway favorite to be named named Rookie of the Year upon season’s end. If Ricky Rubio’s message to the 20 year-old birthday boy is any indication, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ point guard is counting on Wiggins to win far more hardware than that throughout his career.
Future MVP?
Considering the rocky start of Wiggins’ wildly promising rookie season, his recent rate of improvement indeed makes the prospect of Canada’s native son at some point hoisting a Maurice Podoloff trophy seem a possibility. And if the players eventually gain a say in awards voting as Kobe Bryant so wishes, it’s safe to assume Minny’s high-flying wing will have Rubio in his corner.
