Jimmy Butler’s Bulls Teammates ‘Don’t Like It Very Much’ When He Plays Taylor Swift

Jimmy Butler might be the fulcrum by which Chicago’s fortunes swing this season. The Bulls’ All-Star off-guard has been out with an elbow injury since March 1, and it’s unlikely that he returns until the end of this month. Perhaps the only upside to his absence for his Bulls teammates is that they no longer have to listen to Taylor Swift during warmups.

Butler spoke with ProBasketballTalk’s Kurt Helin about his countrified musical inclinations, and how they don’t really align with his teammates:

“I get my own playlist in warmups sometimes,” Butler told ProBasketballTalk. “My teammates don’t like it very much because it’s country music, but they get over it.”

Country? Yes. Starting with Taylor Swift.

“I like Taylor Swift,” Butler said. “I like music as a whole, but her music is kinda catchy. I’m sure she’ll hear this interview now and be like ‘what’s going on?’

Swift, living in New York on her own, has supposedly become a Knicks fan, but Carmelo Anthony — like Jimmy’s Bulls teammates — doesn’t seem to be a fan, either. Knicks fanatics might use Swift’s presence as a far-fetched excuse for New York’s current dwelling in the NBA’s basement.

If Swift does hear about this interview, as Butler suggested, she’d probably tell him to just “shake it off,” but Butler — who was also born the same year as Swift, and the title of her newest album, 1989 — is more a fan of “22.”
