The Minnesota Timberwolves Got Their Own ‘Mario Kart 64’ Mashup Called ‘Rubio Kart’

If you’re like us, you’re having flashbacks to your college dorm room in freshman year, when all of your academic responsibilities did little more than get in the way of your number one priority: owning your roommates at Mario Kart 64 (and/or GoldenEye).

Now the Minnesota Timberwolves – sorely in need of some levity given the season they’ve endured – have released this delightful Mario Kart 64 mashup video featuring Ricky Rubio, Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, and others. Among the courses to choose from are local Minneapolis hot-spots like Calhoun Lagoon, Farmer’s Market, Minnehaha Falls, and the downtown area. Game-play is essentially identical to the original, except with basketballs substituted for turtle shells, naturally.

Credit the inimitable Wolves’ mascot Crunch who debuted the game during a timeout of Minnesota’s Monday night matchup against the Utah Jazz (which led to yet another loss, unfortunately).
