Evan Turner Learns A Tiago Splitter Lesson: Don’t Try To Posterize LeBron James

Maybe it’s been too long, but Evan Turner obviously forgot the lesson Spurs center Tiago Splitter taught most of us in the 2013 NBA Finals. If you forgot, like Turner seemed to last night, here’s a reminder:

Anyway, with a little over a minute left in last night’s 103-95 Game 3 win for Cleveland, Evan Turner was feeling a little salty. He had hit a three-pointer a couple of possessions earlier to cut the Cavs lead to 95-92. J.R. Smith was guarding him, too, so it’s not like he knew what was coming. But on his drive to the cup, James was waiting.

After the rejection at the rim, James appeared to condescendingly inform Turner, “you tried.”

We wonder if Turner had said something to LeBron  late in the regular season about maybe trying to thump it on him in the playoffs? Regardless of whether there’s any backstory, Evan Turner should stay in his lane, and players should only go to dunk on LeBron when he’s at an obvious disadvantage.

Turner — of all people — should know from experience.
