Pau Gasol Puts Pistons Away With Ferocious And-1 Tip Dunk In Final Seconds

What’s better: Pau Gasol’s tip dunk or Stacey King’s wildly enthusiastic call of the game’s signature play?

We’ll side with the slam and primal scream by the Chicago Bulls big man, but only because it essentially put the Detroit Pistons away for good. Gasol followed Taj Gibson’s miss with an and-1 jam as the game clock read just 5.7 seconds and his team was up a single point. If not for the Spaniard’s jam and ensuing free throw, Detroit would have had a chance to steal a win at the United Center on the other end of the floor.

It’s pretty obvious what King thought of his own personal outburst, though, because he used it again just moments later for the sequence’s replay.

“Pau! Pau! Pau!” indeed.

Gasol finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds in Chicago’s 88-82 win over Detroit, notching his league-leading 50th double-double. With the victory and Toronto Raptors loss, the Bulls moved a full game ahead of their Atlantic Division counterparts for the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
