Tiny Bryce Cotton Soars Over Mavericks For Big Alley-Oop

Bryce Cotton is listed at 6’1, but the Utah Jazz are being generous. Plays like certainly make the diminutive reserve guard seem far taller than he actually stands. Also wildly impressive here: Cotton isn’t left-handed.

Utah signed the Providence product to a a multi-year contract last month after he played on successive 10-day contracts. Cotton made his initial impression on the Jazz by averaging 22.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists for the D-League’s Austin Spurs before being called up February 24. After seeing scant minutes for the first five weeks of his time in Utah, he’s played double-digit minutes in five of his last six games as Quin Snyder deals with injuries and taken full advantage.

Though size will always be an issue for Cotton – he measured 5’11 with a 6’2 wingspan at the draft combine – it’s clear he has other attributes that make him a viable backup point guard in the NBA. Chief among them? Explosiveness, obviously.

The Jazz and Dallas Mavericks are tied 57-57 at halftime. Cotton has 10 points.
