Stephen Curry Gives A Heartfelt And Humorous MVP Acceptance Speech

Steph Curry, the baby-faced assassin, was named the 2015 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player today in what ended up being a landslide victory. He received 100 of 130 first place votes to top fellow candidates James Harden and LeBron James, who finished second and third in voting, respectively.

Curry continued the tradition of heartfelt acceptance speeches (a la Kevin Durant) as he spent significant time thanking his wife and family members for their constant support throughout his NBA journey. He got particularly emotional when he talked about growing up watching his father Dell play NBA basketball and being able to follow his path to the league.

But it wasn’t just Curry’s family who received words of thanks from Steph. Like KD last year, Steph took the time to thank every member of this year’s Warriors team, with most Twitter users complaining about how much time it was taking.

Draymond Green, noticeably quiet for the first time when so many Warriors are in the same room, somehow got a hold of the mic and asked Steph an important question during the Q&A after the presentation:

The 27-year-old Curry led the Golden State Warriors to a franchise-best 67 wins this season, which was the best overall record in the league and earned them the number one seed in the Western Conference and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. He also broke his own record for three-pointers made in a single season this year with 286. He also broke our hearts with this:

Curry was the catalyst of a team that, for most of the season, incredibly ranked number one in both offensive and defensive efficiency. His Warriors currently lead the Memphis Grizzlies 1-0 in the Western Conference Semifinals, which resume with Game 2 tomorrow night in Oakland at 10:30 ET on TNT.
