Kristaps Porzingis could be a superstar. The 7-foot-1 Latvian has an effortless shooting stroke and rare athleticism for a player his size, combined with the Euroleague statistical profile of an immediate impact player. He’s a very, very deserving high lottery selection in the 2015 NBA Draft.
As the number one overall pick, though? That’s a minor stretch for Porzingis, mostly considering that Karl-Anthony Towns boasts a similar ceiling with a floor largely considered far higher. All accounts, too, are that Flip Saunders and company will take the Kentucky product first on Thursday night.
But if the Minnesota Timberwolves shock and select a player other than Towns, it might not even be Jahlil Okafor. As this hilarious Saturday Night Live inspired video makes clear, perhaps it’s Porzingis that Saunders has really preferred all along. If that proves the case, though, it’s safe to expect a much different kind of party – rioting, basically – in the Twin Cities than the one shown above.
