A few days before the NBA Draft, Karl-Anthony Towns was asked if reports were true that he’d received a promise from the Minnesota Timberwolves. This was his response:
Towns to Associated Press: "If I had a promise I would go start eating ice cream and getting fat. There is absolutely no promise at all."

In case Timberwolves fans were worried, it’s now completely safe to say that the 19-year-old was joking. Just a day after being selected with No. 1 pick, Towns was in his new team’s practice gym for a late night workout. So much for the talented seven-footer resting on his laurels.
When he was finished, Towns even went so far as to predict a playoff appearance for his young team in 2015-2016. While that optimism seems wildly premature, it’s certainly hard not to admire the youngster’s confidence – especially when combined with his obviously dogged work ethic.
