Confident Kevin Durant Isn’t Bothered By The Spotlight Following LeBron And Steph

Stephen Curry is playing like the MVP, LeBron James has further staked his claim as the greatest player in the world, and the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers have captured the country’s attention. Might Curry’s immediate predecessor and James’ long-assumed successor be missing the spotlight?

Nah. Kevin Durant knows his time is coming soon enough.

The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar played just 27 games in 2014-2015 due to a series of foot problems. His season was officially ended in late March after it was decided that his nagging discomfort would be best treated by another procedure.

When Durant was actually on the floor, however, he looked every bit the 2014 MVP, posting a stellar 27.6 PER on a mind-blowing true shooting percentage of 63.3. And despite his per-game numbers of 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists not comparing to those he compiled in 2013-2014, they came in just 33.8 minutes a night – while he was constantly re-acclimating from the training room to the court, too.

With Billy Donovan as his team’s new coach and Russell Westbrook coming off a career campaign, might we see the Thunder at this time next year? As long as Durant is healthy, it would be foolish to count them out.
