When Kyrie Irving suffered a fractured kneecap late in the Cavaliers’ loss in Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals, many considered it a death knell to Cleveland’s title hopes. They were already shorthanded, and now the team is LeBron James and a bunch of guys.

But LeBron is LeBron, and some of the guys stepped up, especially Matthew Dellavedova, Irving’s replacement in the starting lineup, who turned in a great defensive performance on Stephen Curry. Somehow, it was enough to pull a win out of the mud into which they dragged the game.

You have to feel for Kyrie right now, who’s back in Cleveland recovering from surgery to repair his knee and was forced to watch the game from his hospital bed. That’s his view of the game from his Instagram, above. It must be excruciating for him not to be out there with his teammates, but at least he got to enjoy a win, even if he was laid up in a cast.
