Watch LeBron James Literally Roast The Warriors As The Dragon From ‘Game Of Thrones’

The good folks over at Grantland have released one of the most important videos of the day. If LeBron is the “quintessential millenial hero” that Martin Rickman called him in his brilliant piece on the King’s heroic Game 3, then he deserves the quintessential millienial tribute: a mash-up video with Game of Thrones.

Grantland’s YouTube description says it’s technically in reference to LeBron’s possibly-even-more-impressive performance on the road in Game 2 (hence the Oracle Arena sign on the fighting pits of Meereen), but the sentiment still very much applies.

For all of Cleveland’s shortcomings, they have the ultimate weapon to level the playing field: LeBron James, or in this case, Drogon James. The pronunciation even (almost) works! The video’s attention to detail (as well as its true-to-the-show brutality in literally burning the Golden State Warriors alive) is what really makes it great, so here’s a quick list of my favorite bits from the video:

  • Matthew Dellavedova as Tyrion is beautiful on every level.
  • Can we call David Blatt Khaleesi from now on? Would he be OK with that?
  • Blatt/Khaleesi’s goofy smile as he mounts Drogon James is an inspired choice.
  • J.R. Smith as Jorah isn’t perfect, but his face as Drogon James takes off is. It seems like exactly how he’d react if LeBron set fire to the Warriors — “Man, this means no one will remember my sweet step-back from the second quarter.”

Of course, the perfect parallel of the whole video: People are just as likely to say Blatt is nothing without LeBron as they are (in the GoT universe) to say Daenerys is nothing without her dragons! The only bit it gets wrong is that Missandei is brutally underserved by being matched up with Kevin Love. If anything, she’s Tyronn Lue, Cleveland’s vital assistant coach. There, nailed it.

(Big tip of the hat to Grantland)
