Steph Curry has been an underdog his entire life. But you wouldn’t be able to tell that by watching this video of him destroying his defenders in high school. Even as a young blood, the full arsenal was on display: handles, dimes, and most important, range.

Curry has never had the stature or athleticism of other elite NBA point guards like Russell Westbrook, John Wall and Derrick Rose, but he more than compensates for that with his unique combination of speed, craftiness and shooting touch.

He’s come along way since those high school gyms in Charlotte, and now the league’s Most Valuable Player is making his NBA Finals debut against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. His Golden State Warriors jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the championship series Thursday and are set to square off in Game 2 at Oracle Arena on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
