Check Out The ‘Hoosiers’ Jerseys The Pacers Will Wear Next Year

When teams wear throwback jerseys, they will usually bust out a uniform that honors past versions of their squad. The Indiana Pacers plan on doing something like that during the 2015-16 season, only it’s going to honor a fictional team from one of the most beloved basketball movies of all-time.

According to the team, the Pacers partnered with film company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and will wear special Hoosiers-inspired unis during select games next season.

For the 2015-16 season, the Pacers will introduce the Hickory uniform to be worn in select regular season games as part of the NBA Pride Collection. The Hickory uniform is a tribute to the rich tradition of basketball in the State of Indiana and will serve as inspiration to fans everywhere that no matter how improbable the challenge may be, amazing things can be accomplished through teamwork, determination, heart and hustle.

“Our team will be honored to wear the Hickory uniforms because of the attention it will bring to the storied history of Indiana basketball and the success of that movie,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. “Hoosiers takes us all back to a special place and time.”

This is one of the coolest ideas that an NBA team has had in some time. Everyone, especially in the state of Indiana, knows and loves the movie, and this is a great way to pay homage to both the film and the state. Besides, these are just really nice uniforms, as you can see in the pictures below from Pacers guard/model George Hill.

The Pacers will announce the specific games where they will wear these uniforms later this year. There’s no word on whether these jerseys will be available for purchase.
