Clippers Forward Paul Pierce Was Booed By Dodgers Fans For This Awful First Pitch

After re-signing DeAndre Jordan, the Los Angeles Clippers’ most important acquisition of the summer was Paul Pierce. He adds a valuable veteran presence, sorely-needed wing depth, and a penchant for coming through in the clutch. So, why did these Dodgers fans boo the heck out of Pierce when he threw the first pitch, instead of showering him with love?

Oh, right. Los Angeles has two NBA teams, and Pierce was with the Celtics when they beat that other Los Angeles team (the Lakers, obviously) in the ’08 Finals. That explains that. Mystery solved.

Clippers players are no strangers to boos from Dodgers fans, actually. The boo birds come out in force whenever Chris Paul comes to a game, which is fairly often. The Clippers may be the better basketball team, but L.A. still appears to be a Lakers town first and foremost. That’s what happens when you count the rings. Who knows, though. If the Clippers win a title fairly soon, even that could change.

In the meantime, Pierce likely won’t be too bothered. It’s not as if this is the first time he’s been booed in his career.
