What Do You Think Of The Houston Rockets’ Alternate ‘Clutch City’ Uniforms?

The Houston Rockets are going to bust out a brand new alternate uniform later tonight, according to a report by Conrad Burry. The special “Pride” unis don’t look too different from the ones that James Harden, Dwight Howard, and co. busted out last year, but the big difference is what it says across the chest. Instead of “Houston” or “Rockets” across the front, the team’s uniforms will simply say “Clutch” on top and “City” on the bottom with a number in the middle.

Sure, putting a nickname on the front of a uniform is a bit cheesy, but the name does have plenty of significance to the franchise. Back in the 1990s, the city earned the nickname after the Hakeem Olajuwon-led Rockets won back-to-back titles in 1994 and 1995. In fact, a documentary came out earlier this year about those Houston teams called Clutch City. It also made a bit of a comeback after last season, when the Rockets came back from a 3-1 deficit against the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Semifinals.

These uniforms also pay homage to the old uniforms that the squad used to wear, which are some of the most iconic jerseys in NBA history. There’s no word on when the Rockets will bust these out during the 2015-16 season, but now that we at least know what these look like, what do you think about them?
