Stephen Colbert Matched Stephen Curry Shot For Shot In A Shooting Contest

With all due respect to Stephen Hawking, the two most famous Stephens in the world were on The Late Show Monday night: The titular host Stephen Colbert, and his guest, NBA MVP Stephen Curry. They may not have the same name due to their respective parents’ preferred pronunciation, but Google doesn’t know that, so Colbert insisted they engage in a competition for ultimate Google search supremacy. (No one told him how SEO works, apparently.) In an ill-advised move, Colbert decided a shooting contest was the most appropriate way to settle it.

Well, it was kind of a shooting contest — they used rolled-up socks, a format with which Colbert is apparently more comfortable. But still, it’s Steph Curry, possibly the greatest shooter ever! He can dominate a lowly talk-show host, right? Well, even the greats have off nights. That’s the only way to satisfactorily explain the shocking result of the sock-shooting battle. Though you gotta admit, Colbert’s form is impressive. Maybe he really does go long distance with his laundry like the rest of us.

To be honest, the sock format seems less obvious than rolled-up paper (with the target being your standard wire wastebasket), but maybe the Stephens were trying to save the environment, in one small way. That would be nice.
