Stephen Curry Says The Warriors ‘Finally Get A Decent Coach’ In Steve Nash

Stephen Curry loved Mark Jackson, but the former Golden State Warriors coach simply wasn’t the best on-court fit for the defending champions. In his first year ever roaming the sidelines, on the other hand, Steve Kerr not only proved he was the right man to lead the Warriors, but also developed his own special relationship with the reigning MVP, too.

Or at least that’s what we thought.

In Curry’s defense, any team or individual player would be lucky to learn from future Hall of Famer Steve Nash. The two-time MVP is one of the greatest passers and shooters basketball has ever seen, and leveraged those incredible skills with nearly unparalleled basketball intellect. He’ll prove a boon for the Warriors as a special player development coach, no matter how fleeting or inconsistent the 41-year-old’s time with the team proves.

Kerr, on the other hand, was a career reserve who forged a successful playing tenure by taking wide open spot-up jumpers opposite all-time greats like Michael Jordan and Tim Duncan. What could he possibly know about the game that Nash doesn’t?

Well, that actually remains to be seen. But it’s also foolish for any doubt to remain about Kerr’s acumen following a debut campaign that was bookmarked by a championship and included a rookie coaching record 67 regular season wins. It’s safe to say, then, that Curry was just joking about “finally” having a “decent coach.” Right?

If not, we have an idea who Golden State owner Joe Lacob and general manager Bob Myers should look to as Kerr’s successor – and Steph clearly does, too.
