Dwyane Wade Tells Stephen A. Smith That ‘LeBron Knows We’re Coming For Him’

The 2014-15 NBA season was, in summary, not ideal for the Miami Heat. First, LeBron James moved on back to his old stomping grounds with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Then, in addition to being ravaged by injuries, the Heat missed the postseason for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

With the 2015-16 season essentially underway, Heat guard Dwyane Wade sat down with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith to discuss a wide variety of topics, the first of which involved his mission to dethrone the Cavs.

“Some things you don’t have to talk about. LeBron knows we’re coming for him,” Wasde said. “They’re at the top of the Eastern Conference; everybody’s going for ‘em.”

It’s the money quote, but in fairness, Wade was totally baited into the question, word for word, by Smith. When you watch the whole interview, it’s easy to see why Wade said what he did. The Cavaliers are the reigning Eastern Conference champs. Of course the Heat are gunning for them. So, too, are the Hawks. And the Bulls. And the Wizards. And anybody with a shot a making the NBA Finals.

With LeBron apparently more motivated than ever and Tristan Thompson finally ready to move forward with the Cavs, the organization should once again be a favorite to win the NBA Finals.

Either way, Wade’s trying to make sure his former teammate doesn’t even have the opportunity to get there. What would a player be if he didn’t want to take his team to the mountaintop? And considering Wade and the Heat have been there before, it would be foolish to count them out.
