Nick Young Got Extra Swaggy On This 40-Foot Buzzer Beater

It was the regular-season debut for both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves Wednesday night and storylines abound for each franchise. Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett kicked off their 20th and 21st seasons respectively, and they’re two of only five players to have played a total of 20 NBA seasons. Bryant subsequently set the record for the most seasons played with a single team.

It was also the NBA debut for No. 1 pick Karl-Anthony Towns and No. 2 pick D’Angelo Russell, as well as the return of Julius Randle, the Lakers’ seventh pick in the 2014 draft who missed his rookie season with a leg injury. Reigning Rookie of the Year, Andrew Wiggins, and reigning dunk champ, Zach LaVine, officially embarked on their sophomore campaigns, and in a truly honorable gesture, Lakers players wore t-shirts commemorating former T-Wolves coach Flip Saunders, who passed away earlier this week after a battle with cancer.

But if you thought Nick Young wasn’t going to steal some of the spotlight amid all the hoopla, then you were wrong. With Los Angeles up 28-22 with time winding down in the first quarter, the Lakers guard went all Swaggy P on Minnesota and drained this running buzzer-beater from just inside the halfcourt line.
