Chris Bosh And Dwyane Wade Finally Team Up With Carmelo Anthony…For Thanksgiving

The Miami Heat take on the New York Knicks in New York the day after Thanksgiving. Yet, while Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will be enemies with Carmelo Anthony on the court during Friday’s game, the trio came together the day before to celebrate the holiday.

Life for an NBA player during the season, though not at all a hardship, does have its difficulties – chief among them, having to spend time away from family. The fans may love the non-stop hoops action on Christmas day, but the players and coaches have long resented having to play on the family-oriented holiday. And while they don’t have to play on Thanksgiving – the NBA doesn’t want to compete with the NFL on Turkey Day – many teams still have to spend the actual holiday on the road.

Seasoned veterans like Bosh and Wade know how to deal with these circumstances. Rather than spend Thanksgiving in a hotel room, they flew their families up to New York and gathered at the house of their longtime friend Anthony.

NBA players of yesteryear like to lament the fact that today’s NBA has gotten too friendly, that players get too chummy with one another on and off the court. They’d probably scoff at the notion of celebrating Thanksgiving at the house of a player they were facing the next day. That’s perfectly fine. They can scoff all they want because Wade, Bosh and Anthony were too busy enjoying the holiday to care.
