Steph Curry Was The Only Unanimous All-NBA First Team Selection And Thunder Fans Will Not Be Happy

The All-NBA Teams, the last major awards of the NBA season, have been announced. As one would imagine with the glut of superstar talent we have in the league, there were some difficult choices to make, and that’s why Stephen Curry was the only player to be a unanimous selection for the first team. Here are the winners:

The toughest part of the voting process is still the center position, as no one would argue that DeAndre Jordan is the fifth-best player in the NBA. Draymond Green and Kevin Durant were stuck on the second team, but by the narrow criteria set forth by the voting, it’s hard to argue they deserved a first-team slot. After all, to get it they’d need to push LeBron James or Kawhi Leonard down. It’s not that you’d be wrong to do it, it’s just that they’re all that good.

Some notable players were left off the ballot entirely — James Harden narrowly missed a third team selection after making first team last season, just like Anthony Davis. Both of them had statistically great seasons that nonetheless failed to deliver on expectations because their teams were public failures, and their standing in the eyes of voters seemed to suffer as a result. For Davis, it’s a particularly tough pill to swallow because he loses out on a massive performance clause in his contract — the Derrick Rose rule, as it’s known. You know who did hit it big? Damian Lillard, who wasn’t even an All-Star this year.
