Andre Iguodala’s Pick For ‘Best Team In The Playoffs’ Didn’t Even Make The NBA Finals

Andre Iguodala’s got some time to kill. He’s not returning to Team USA duty in Brazil next month for the Olympics, and next year his job with the Golden State Warriors will be easier than ever with Kevin Durant playing ahead of him.

So, he did a radio interview. Jumping on the famous New York show The Breakfast Club, Iguodala discussed his tech investments, #disruption, and the trials his team faced in a 2015-16 NBA title defense that ultimately fell one win short.

Especially interesting Iguodala saying it wasn’t LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers, the team who vanquished Golden State to bring glory back to the state of Ohio, who gave the Warriors the most trouble, though. It was his new teammate’s old squad, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“Now that we got KD I can say it. They were the best team in the playoffs,” Iguodala said. “They should have won a championship… they were better than us. They had our number. We said ‘oh man, we gotta play perfect to beat them.’ ”

These words only make Durant’s defection harder to stomach for Thunder fans and lovers of NBA parity. The Thunder-Warriors rivalry was heating up into something legendary, and Durant ended it in one fell motion.
