Andrew Bogut Finishes Soaring Alley-Oop From Steph Curry Over Adreian Payne

The Minnesota Timberwolves are the worst defensive team in basketball, and the Golden State Warriors boast the league’s second-best offense. Stephen Curry is already enjoying an early field day in the teams’ Saturday night matchup, but Minny’s sweeping defensive ineptitude isn’t restricted to one area of the floor – it’s bad everywhere.

Take this sick Andrew Bogut alley-oop, for instance. Just what is Adreian Payne doing here? It’s his assignment to split the difference between his man, Harrison Barnes, and the rolling Warriors center to prevent this very highlight. Andrew Wiggins is doing his job to help the helper, but the helper is in no man’s land as opposed to helping at all.

While this is a pretty typical possession for the young ‘Wolves, though, it isn’t for Golden State. It seems that no team has misconnected on more lob passes in 2014-2015 than the Warriors, a strange development considering their wealth of passing and finishing talent. There’s a reason Bogut frequently stares at his hand in mock amazement after catching and finishing alley-oops; we were actually shocked when he didn’t following this one.

Though Minnesota has actually kept Steve Kerr’s team in relative check so far and enjoyed some scoring success of their own, it’s only a matter of time until the ‘Dubs get going. Curry, remember, already he is – he had three treys in the first quarter as a sleepy Golden State trails 31-28.
