Anthony Davis Flies Through The Lane For The Huge One-Handed Jam

Anthony Davis didn’t have a great season debut against the Warriors Tuesday night, so he took some of that aggression out on the Portland Trail Blazers on the second night of their back-to-back Wednesday with this huge one-handed jam midway through the second quarter. But Davis once again struggled tremendously early on in the first half.

The Blazers led 70-43 at the half behind C.J. McCollum, who took a page out of Steph Curry’s playbook and scored 22 points in the opening quarter. He finished with 37 for the game on 14-of-22 from the floor and a scorching 6-of-9 from behind-the-arc. He stepped up big time as Damian Lillard was ice cold all night, somehow managing 21 points on 8-of-21 shooting, including a horrid 1-of-7 from distance.

Davis ultimately finished with that appears to be a rather impressive stat line at first glance: 25 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. But the box score doesn’t quite tell the whole story. Early in the fourth quarter, he had just 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field and 0-of-2 from downtown. He did, however, start to heat up and eventually made a few threes, but it was too little too late as the game was already out of reach. The Blazers went on to win handily 112-94.
