By now, the Clippers have a long, storied history with emojis (even if their two most senior members don’t know how to use them). So Red Bull, sponsors of Blake Griffin, who originally turned the DeAndre Jordan saga into an emoji-based short story, decided it would be a hoot to conduct a promotional interview with Blake using only emojis. It’s better than it at first sounds, trust me.

Griffin’s natural humor, the one that’s not Kia-based, comes mainly from his excellent deadpan delivery. He’s got a nearly invisible (sometimes visible) smirk to lots of what he says, complimented by the blank stare he holds for an extra beat. Griffin’s got eyes like Channing Tatum’s — lifeless, but oddly compelling. He’d give a killer Jim Halpert stare, and it makes his emoji choices actually worth a chuckle, even though they’re nothing special (no alien? NO FLAME EMOJI?!). Well, one choice is special: his emoji for getting a triple-double (i.e. happiness, so don’t try to make a connection to the actual emoji image and a triple-double):

That might be as cute as a 6-foot-10 man made of muscle can get. If you’re looking for the tough questions, they’re not here. Summer’s almost over, but the NBA’s still in full offseason mode.
