Carmelo Anthony Swats Anderson Varejao On One End And Drills A Pull-Up Three On The Other

Carmelo Anthony was doing it all in the first half against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. After getting the huge block on Anderson Varejao’s dunk attempt, he knocked down a wide-open three-pointer on the other end to give the Knicks a one-point lead midway through the second quarter.

Me7o got off to a blistering start, going 8-of-11 from the field overall, including 4-5 from downtown en route to 22 first-half points and a 53-46 lead for New York going into the break. Varejao, meanwhile, saw just three minutes of action and missed all three of his shot attempts.

It’s shaping up to be yet another thrilling showdown between Anthony and LeBron James, who had a solid first half as well with 13 points on 50 percent shooting, to go along with three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and this monster alley-oop slam off a pretty lob pass from Mo Williams.

So far, both Melo and LeBron are the only two players in double figures for their respective teams. Kevin Love was ice-cold to start the game, going 1-of-6 from the field, including 1-of-4 from long-range. Arron Afflalo added eight points on 3-of-4 shooting New York while Kristaps Porzingis chipped in six points and six rebounds.
