Which NBA Star Did Chris Bosh Select For Harry Potter’s Nefarious ‘Slytherin’ House?

Sports Illustrated has a new feature on Chris Bosh’s return to the court after blood clots were discovered on his lungs last year, causing him to miss the remainder of the season. But Bosh — a Harry Potter fan — also stopped by the Bleacher Report studio with Adam Lefkoe to assign NBA stars to one of the four houses that make of the magical school of Hogwarts in the J.K. Rowling series: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff.

First, a primer on the various houses and what they symbolize, something Bosh likely knows well or else why did they film this segment?

Gryffindor is the house Harry is selected for, one that values “bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry.” Bosh selects the 2015 NBA MVP, Stephen Curry, and his former teammate on Miami, LeBron James, for Gryffindor. The reasoning is pretty obvious.

Hufflepuff values hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play, and while Bosh put teammate Dwayne Wade in Hufflepuff, he reasoning lies in Wade’s sartorial choices, believing Wade goes in “whichever house is the most fashionable.”

Ravenclaw values intelligence, knowledge, and wit. Bosh, in a surprise to Lefkoe and the NBA fans who don’t think he’s elite, put Carmelo Anthony in Ravenclaw because “Me7o” is actually pretty astute.

“Not that he tells people how smart he is,” Bosh says. “But people don’t know how smart Melo is. They underestimate him.”

The final house, Slytherin, values ambition, cunning and resourcefulness, which is why Bosh selects… Chris Paul?

Bosh calls him “a great leader, great point guard,” but “he’s got that edge. That’s what you need in the NBA.”

Host Lefkoe was flummoxed by the choice, saying he’d choose Paul for Gryffindor because “he’s a great leader.” But we actually agree with Bosh.

CP3 is a whirling dervish of salty language, withering looks to opponents, refs and teammates, and a cutthroat mentality that’s predisposed to the vile cunning of Slytherin’s most famous member: He Who Shall Not Be Named, Lord Voldemort.

Special thanks to Martin for the Hogwarts help.
