Last night alone, Chris Paul scored about 10 points on complete bullshit.
He broke down his man, got him leaning, jumped into him and threw up a shot towards the cup. It’s not that he’s chucking “prayers” at the rim because he’s so good at taking contact and still controlling where the ball is going. We’re used to seeing this from Dwyane Wade when he attacks the basket like a freight train, adjusts in mid-air, and still manages to find the bottom of the net blindly.
But for CP3 it’s something of a new phenomenon. Drawing fouls on bigs who are eager to try to block his shot is a smart play, as it instills a bit of hesitancy in their heads the next time that Paul zooms into the lane.
However, it’s also worth noting that if Manu Ginobili did this, he’d be crucified as the ultimate flopper. But with CP3, it’s just a smart use of his body.
