The ‘It Me’ Podcast: Would A Cleveland Or Warriors Win In The Finals Be Better For The NBA?

The Finals are here, The Finals are here, The Finals are here! It’s like Christmas morning for people who love to argue about whether someone is a choker if they lose to someone else who is really good at doing stuff. I’m going to celebrate by drinking a whole gallon of egg nog and falling asleep outside in the sweltering heat. (I am not going to do this.)

We brought on someone who knows an awful lot about Cleveland heartbreak (just in case!) – Zac Jackson of Pro FootballTalk & the A To Z Podcast – to talk about this epic NBA Finals rematch between the Cavs and the Warriors, and this is maybe the most straightforward podcast we’ve ever done, which shows you how excited we really are about this series – and how tough it really is for Robby to podcast and play a round of golf at the same time.

This week we discussed:

  • Whether a Cleveland or Golden State win in the Finals would ultimately be better for the NBA
  • The idea of LeBron James playing possum this season and saving his energy for this series
  • How if Cleveland is ever going to break the curse, doing so against a potential dynasty (and the best team in history) is a good way to do it
  • The idea that you really can’t compare last year’s series and this year’s at all because the teams are so different
  • What role a finally healthy Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love will play in these games
  • If the ridiculously arduous last few weeks for Golden State has them more or less prepared for the Finals

As always, comments and tweets are welcome. Subscribe to us on iTunes, too! You can find Robby at (@rkalland) and Martin at (@martinrickman), and Zac is at (@AkronJackson). Football is great and so are friends, but football (and every other sport) is always better with friends.

Special thanks to the band Annabel for our intro and outro music. They’re really good. You should buy their music at their website or perhaps see them play a show some time.
