Everyone in the sports world (and beyond) is rooting for Craig Sager, and the longtime NBA sideline reporter received a bit of good news this week. Sager, who has engaged in a courageous and ongoing bout with leukemia, will undergo his third bone marrow and stem cell transplant over the past three calendar years.

Word of the transplant comes from Sager’s son, Craig II, who also made an impassioned plea to increase the donor base in an effort to raise awareness and the ability to help others battle in a similar fashion.

Tributes to Sager never seem to stop, with Jordan Brand honoring the always colorful sideline personality via signature shoes, ESPN presenting him with the Jimmy V award, and even USA Basketball sharing an emotional moment with Sager during the team’s march to a gold medal in Rio.

While the battle endures, Sager has been forced to take more extended periods of rest, including the fact that he stayed home during the Olympics for rest and treatment. Still, this is tremendous news for a figure that has inspired many people with his strength, courage and positive attitude, and hopefully, this procedure will work wonders for Craig Sager in his quest to defeat cancer once and for all.
