Spurs Guard Dejounte Murray Hopped Into An Instagram Comment Section To Explain His Tattoo

With Tony Parker being out for the rest of the postseason, the San Antonio Spurs have given rookie guard Dejounte Murray the chance to shine. He’s looked great in some games – like his 11 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in 24 minutes in the Spurs’ series-clinching thrashing of the Rockets – and looked like a rookie guard in others.

But one thing has stayed consistent in every game: Murray has a tattoo on his right shoulder, and no one knows exactly what it is. When I saw it during Golden State’s Game 1 victory over the Spurs, I thought it was some kind of tribute to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. CBS Sports agreed, and posted a picture of the tattoo to its Instagram account.

It’s all in good fun, because … well, no one has seen a tattoo like the one Murray has on his right shoulder before. So Murray, having a sense of humor about all this, decided to hop into the comment section of this Instagram post and explain the meaning of his ink.

The meanness of the face is in the eye of each beholder – I didn’t think it’s mean, but rather, I took it as “I’m a bad dude, like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” As for whether he’s a savage, well, Murray has shown some flashes during his NBA career, but he still has a long way to go before he’s that good. If he wants lessons on how to become a savage, though, he can just get his head coach going on Zaza Pachulia.
