Derrick Rose started the 2015-2016 season battling through yet another injury, only this time it was a left orbital fracture that he sustained on the first day of training camp, which subsequently required surgery. The former MVP has been playing with a protective mask but has previously indicated that he’s been suffering through blurred and/or double vision and has at times been forced to play with one eye closed.

Unfortunately, that’s not going to get any better anytime soon. On Sunday, Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg told the media that Rose’s doctors say he might have to deal with vision problems for up to three more months. Via Nick Friedell of ESPN.com:

“[The doctors] said it could be as long as three months,” Hoiberg said. “But [the vision] has continued to improve, and that’s obviously a positive.”

“This is my first time hearing about it,” Rose said of the possible three-month timeline. “But you kind of have that hope in your mind that it gets well a lot quicker. But for this to be seven or eight [weeks] out and still the same way, I can’t do nothing but live with it. Get the most out of every day, keep putting my deposits in and keep working on my game until my eye gets better.

“But I’m loving the way that I’m working out, I’m loving the way that we’re playing. We’re winning games, so that’s the only thing that I’m worried about. Everything else will come.”

Though Rose’s numbers have dropped off significantly from his career averages, Chicago has won their last two games and are 6-3 to start the season, good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Next up, they’ll host the Indiana Pacers on Monday.
