Derrick Rose Plans On Listening To ‘Everyone’ As He Enters Free Agency

Derrick Rose may be the most fascinating name on the free agent market this summer. All he needs is one team to think he’s able to consistently play close to the level that earned him an MVP award and he’s in for a massive payday.

Rose seems like he’s going to look for that team as he gets ready to hit free agency. The Knicks guard sat down with The Chicago Tribune during a recent trip to the Windy City to watch a game between the Bulls and the Celtics, and he mentioned that he’s entering the market with a willingness to listen to anyone who comes to the table.

“I’m going into it with an open mind and will listen to everyone,” Rose said. “Last season sucked losing. But it was a great experience. I loved the guys that I played with and I loved the coaching staff. And who wouldn’t like playing in New York? It was great.”

This quote also illustrates that Rose may prefer to stay with the Knicks, something that his agent has alluded to in the past. He may not seem like he wants to play in Phil Jackson’s beloved triangle, but Rose obviously has some amount of love for New York.

If the Knicks are willing to fork over the necessary cash for Rose – which, considering how they wanted to ship him to Minnesota for Ricky Rubio, that may not be the case – he seems like he wants to stay with the team. If not, and teams aren’t too worried about his season-ending meniscus surgery, Rose may be available to the highest bidder.
