There Will Be A Verdict In Derrick Rose’s Rape Trial Very Soon

Derrick Rose’s civil trial for sexual assault has been exactly as unpleasant as you’d expect a celebrity rape case to be, but it looks like it’s finally coming to an end soon.

There is apparently a bit more work to get through before that point, as the New York Post‘s Julia Marsh details.

We believe that “Jos” is a typo for “his,” and that final witness — Jane Doe’s coworker — could be a crucial part of Rose’s defense.

The coworker is expected to take the stand and feed the defense’s narrative that Doe made up the story of sexual assault in an attempt to extort Rose, according to the Post:

In the deposition, Keyana LaVergne, a former colleague of the accuser at property management firm GHP, says the alleged victim came into work just hours after the alleged rape and “didn’t seem battered. She didn’t seem off.”

“She was at work behaving normally,” LaVergne testified.

In fact, she even showed LaVergne photos of herself in a sex harness she’d bought for Rose and laughed about it, according to court papers.

[…]

LaVergne also claims: “Not one time did ‘rape’ come out of her mouth.”

That would be a hell of a final witness to drop on the jury right before the case heads to deliberation. It’s set to be an explosive end to what has been a salacious-yet-morbid trial. The jury is expected to deliver a verdict on Wednesday at the latest; Doe is seeking $21.5 million in emotional damages.
