Draymond Green Is Essentially Playing Point Guard And It’s Absolutely Glorious

More fun than watching the Golden State Warriors? Watching the reigning champions play without basketball’s best player, shockingly.

That might be hyperbole. After a first half that ended with the Warriors scoring 66 points and leading the Houston Rockets by eight, though, it’s abundantly clear they fare just fine without Steph Curry. Why? Mostly because Draymond Green is even more shape-shifting than his champions suggest.

Not only is Golden State’s do-it-all power forward playing full-time point guard against the Houston Rockets on Monday night, but he’s making typically nuanced and impactful defensive plays like this one, too.

Green finished the first half with five points, six rebounds, and four assists. As always, however, his influence on the game is extending far, far beyond the box score.
