Draymond Green, spark-plug and conversation-starter galore of the 2016 NBA Playoffs, is one of the most hotly debated characters in sports today. Hate him or love him, though, one thing is for sure: dude wants to win. So much so that he often resorts to methods that you wouldn’t tell your mother about.

His penchant for victory is so strong, in fact, that he admitted in a recent Orange County Register profile that he refuses to play video games. “I stopped playing video games because I hate losing,” he said. “I wasn’t very good, so I stopped.”

We’ve all been there. We’ve all been cornered turn after turn by a brother, sister, pal, or even a tyrannical parent in a round of NBA 2K or Super Smash Brothers. We’ve all feigned delight and ease when, in fact, losing time after time was killing us inside, our night ruined by our supposed friend’s conquest. Now just imagine that your sense of competition was 50 times what it is – that’s what Green was suffering through as a gamer.

The world is better for Draymond’s withdrawal from the digital arena. It already has enough of his searing, often-reckless energy
on the basketball court, where his inspired play produces approximately 6,000 opinions per minute. Let’s leave it at that.
