Dwight Howard Was Rushed To The Hospital After A Flight

Dwight Howard suffered a bit of a scary episode over the weekend after returning home from a trip to China. Howard had been overseas to promote his new signature shoe with Peak and upon returning to Atlanta, he was rushed to the hospital with apparent dehydration, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Dwight Howard was taken to a hospital late Sunday night after feeling ill on a plane flight to Atlanta, according to several people familiar with the situation. It is believed that the Hawks center suffered from dehydration. He is being treated and is expected to be released from the hospital early Monday morning.

Howard, 30, has recently been in China on a 10-day promotional tour with shoe manufacturer Peak. Last week, the Chinese company and Howard unveiled his DH2 shoe which features the colors of the Hawks.

It’s certainly a good sign that Howard is expected to be released soon, because that means it’s not serious. Some kind of illness can probably be expected when going abroad for as long as he was, especially when a 15-hour flight is involved. Fortunately, it appears that Howard will be okay with two weeks to go before training camp tips off for the Hawks.
